The Bartizan Hotel encapsulates what Galle is famous for – it’s colonial past.
The building was an old Dutch structure that has now been carefully renovated to a boutique hotel while keeping the original architectural elements intact. Perched peacefully at the edge of the Indian ocean, it felt like stepping back in time, somewhere where life was going on a slower pace.
We stayed in the Deluxe Balcony room on the second floor which boasts an ocean view and a large terrace where we had our breakfast served every morning. The sunny weather and the endless blue in front us tempted me every morning and I couldn’t resists but wake up with the first rays of light and enjoy the nature’s spectacle while reading a book about corporate strategy (I think I will bring another one for my next travel as this doesn’t fit very well with the tropical surroundings).
Adjacent to our room there was a patio with an even better view towards the sea and the Fort and we didn’t miss the chance to get some vitamin D in a breaththaking setting.
If you are ever in Galle and dreaming of an intimate boutique hotel close to restaurants and shops, you should definitely consider The Bartizan. Check their website if you want to know more.
